For some, home is a terrifying place to flee, for others, an idea worth dying for. When a rag-tag group find themselves caught between homes, they will have to learn each others’ stories in order to understand their own.

Theatre Témoin bring their vibrant visual style to the great outdoors, using clowning and large-scale puppetry on a journey exploring conflict and belonging.

Routes was developed and researched with Refugee, Migrant, and Native British groups and artists in partnership with PsycheDelight, Young Roots, A Band of Brothers, Creating Ground, and Greenwich Migrant Hub.

Winner of the Mayor of London’s Culture Seeds Award for Creative Communities. Presented by Sadiq Khan at City Hall, London in May 2019.

Created by Theatre Témoin, Routes was commissioned by Without Walls, Greenwich and Docklands International Festival, Stockton International Riverside Festival, Brighton Festival, Bedford Creative Arts and Music in Detention. It is supported by Arts Council England, 101 Creation Space, Mayor of London’s Culture Seeds, Theatre Deli and Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

Routes has an extensive participation programme, bringing together refugee/migrant and non-refugee/migrant communities across the UK. An interactive workshop programme was delivered in partnership with each performance venue.
